Save BCFE Rallying this Thursday

BCFE campaign Save Ballyfermot College will be rallying outside Dail Eireann from 5.30 – 7 pm this Thursday (25th April).  The rally is against the increased pupil teacher ratio.

If you want to join and support the college they are meeting at Buswells Hotel at 5.15 sharp to make there way up to the Dail. Placards and banners are appreciated but the most important thing is to come and support the college.

Whats the protest about?

The Budget saw  Mr Quinn increase the pupil teacher ratio from 17:1 to 19:1. It is only two more students per class?

Why are Save Ballyfermot College protesting?

The government have capped the amount of students that can attend Ballyfermot so we cannot take more in. From speaking to politicians on the topic they really haven’t grasped the fallout from this. BCFE stand to lose 10 teachers. 10 specialist teachers whose skills and knowledge are unsubstitutable. If these specialists are not in place then we lose courses. Students lose the opportunity to study. More people end up on social welfare.
